Jamie Gray has a Bachelor of Fine Arts (Glass) from the Alberta College of Art + Design and a Master of Fine Arts (Glass) from the University of Edinburgh. While studying, she focused her energies on sculptural and kiln-formed glass of a narrative nature. Her current work is centered on identity (especially post-colonial Canadian), roots pilgrimages, and the ways in which we view our identities through our mortalities. To this end, she researches death practices, abandoned places, ghost towns, and cemeteries to glean historical information and get a sense of the past. Her resultant artistic response is to create sculptural pieces that draw the viewer in to the question “Who do we think we are?”.
Jamie instructs glass classes, including DIY stained glass, fused glass, and Grave Goods classes.
