Lake Safety Flag System Overview
The Auburn Bay Residents Association uses a flag system to inform users of the potential current risk level of using the lake. Flags are placed around the lakeshore for visibility.
GREEN FLAGS
Conditions are considered suitable for lake use.
Residents may enjoy the lake at their own discretion. Always use caution and be aware that conditions can change.
YELLOW FLAGS
Conditions may require additional awareness and caution.
The lake remians open, but users should review current advisories and assess risks before participating in water or ice-related activities.
RED FLAGS
Conditions pose a significant safety concern.
Lake access is restricted until further notice. Please refer to the Auburn Bay Residents Association website for updates and further details.

Members and guests assume all risks associated with lake use.
The ABRA is a non-lifeguarded facility, and all amenities are used at your own risk.
The flag system is advisory in nature and should be used in conjunction with sound judgment and caution
Lake conditions can change unexpectedly, including ice stability, water quality, and other safety-related factors.
The ABRA accepts no liability for injuries, damages, losses, or claims arising from lake use or reliance on the flag system.
Red Flag Enforcement Policy
If red flags are displayed, the lake is closed, and no access is allowed for any users (aside from ABRA staff/approved contractors).
- If members or their geusts are on the lake when the flag is red, the ABRA may contact the proper authorities (Fire Department, Police, etc.) for removal.
- These individuals will be responsible for any and all costs associated with their removal.
- Members using the lake when red flags are raised will face a membership review, which may result in suspension or termination of access.
